Aging Gracefully While Doing Pilates

March 13, 2007

Those of you older folks who LOVE Pilates but have some common conditions such as hypertension, heart disease, and arthritis should remember that the exercises need to be performed at a much lower intensity and shorter duration depending on how you are feeling.  Often times you may be on multiple medications that can affect your response to the exercises.  One example can be found in the deep breathing exercises which may lead to light-headedness or dizziness.  Be sure to have a thorough health screening before you start any new program!
