The 6 essential nutrients that aid in body functions are: water, minerals, vitamins, carbohydrates, fats and proteins.
Carbohydrates, fats, and proteins are the nutrients necessary to supply energy.
Water, vitamins and minerals are necessary for the release of energy.
Carbohydrates should make up approximately 55-60% of total calories in a day, with 45% of it being complex carbs and 10% can be simple carbs.
Fats should make up approximately 30% of our total caloric intake for the day.
Proteins in the vicinity of 12-15% of total calories per day.
