The Benefits Of Weight Training

Weight training is very important when it comes to fitness, since muscles naturally diminish with age.  Many times if you don’t do anything to replace the muscle you lost you will gain the weight in fat.  Some of the benefits of strength training are:

  • The development of stong bones.  This is done by the increase of bone density, which reduces the risk for osteoporosis.  For people that already have osteoporosis (bone loss with age) the benefit of weight training is that it will lessen the impact of such condition.
  • By working out, you will be able to control the fat in your body.  The more tone your body is the easier it becomes to control your weight.  This happens because as you lose muscle your body burns calories less efficiently.
  • You will reduce the chances of getting injured.  At the same time it helps you maintain flexibility and balance.  For older people, it helps them remain independent.
  • A boost in your stamina
  • Improvement of self-image and well-being
  • Often times, it helps you sleep better.
