Now that this new idea on the glycemic index and it’s direct link to weight loss through by which foods impact the blood sugar levels the most, you may want to know which bread is best for weight loss according to this index! It will surprise you that this answer is the very one you may be eating.
Here’s the breakdown: Pumpernickel has the least 41, Sourdough the next, 52, Rye at 58, white at 70 and lastly whole wheat at 73. Whole wheat has the most! So it turns out that whole wheat bread isn’t the healthiest bread for weight loss, according to that index. This means that this particular food breaks down quickly, causing sharp spikes in blood sugar. This in turn will trigger hunger or cravings and then you tend to overeat. The pumpernickel on the other hand will break down more slowly, helping you to maintain a stable blood sugar level which will give you the feeling of fullness!
