Yoga Will Restore Strength And Flexibility
October 30, 2007
The regular practice of yoga will help to restore muscle balance, strength, and flexibility. Will restore circulatory and respiratory efficiency. Plus it will increase bone-strength, sensitivity to insulin and normal digestion. Our bodies will begin to respond beautifully to challenges and stress, which in turn will boost the immune system and balance lipid and cholesterol metabolism. Just to name a few!!!

Answer To Your Fitness Questions" />

Hi Deni,
I live in NJ and found your program, Total Body Workout, through a “yoga” search on my Tivo back in April. I have been addicted ever since! I can’t tell you (although I’m sure you know) how much it has changed the way I look and feel. Thank you!
Other people have also noticed the change in me and have asked me what I’ve been doing. When I tell them Yoga, they often ask “Which kind?”. I’m not sure what to say, since I don’t think it’s ever mentioned on the program. So, my question to you is, what type of yoga am I doing? (Whatever it is - it’s certainly the right type for me!)
Thanks!
Liz
PS Will you ever be doing any inversions on the program, or are they best learned by going to an in-person class?
Hi Liz: Thank you so much for your kind words!! In answer to your first question about what type of yoga you are doing. Generally speaking, you are doing a “power Yoga” or a “flow yoga”. It has the flavor of Astanga and Anusara to it. If you would like to investigate more information about these two, just google these types of yoga. In the future I will write specifically about them. However, you are doing a powerful type of yoga, that detoxifies, energizes and tones your body. What a huge blessing. So keep it up!
As far as inversions, I believe it is best to do it in a class setting to as to get the proper instruction, alignment and safety guidelines. However, we do not do inversions on the show. Thanks so much for your questions and comments. Love to hear from you again.
Namaste,
Deni
Hello Deni:
I was flipping through the channels this morning and came up your show on BYU-TV. I am interested in, and have been for quite some time, beginning yoga for stress relief and fitness. I am in my late 40’s with a full time job and 3 children. They were all large at birth (2 at 10 lbs. and 1 larger - no c-sections!). Reading your biography I feel you might be able to relate to my current situation. I have a bladder control problem that seems to be getting worse. Will yoga help me strengthen the muscles to help control this problem?
When pregnant what is the best Yoga that I should do. I have never tried Yoga before. Any ideas?
HI Sari: Ahhhh! Congratulations! Actually I believe with all that is going on in your body in bearing this wonderful new human being, you should practice restorative yoga. It is gentle and nurturing to a body that is preparing for childbirth. Remember not to force any stretch as your body has this hormone called relaxin that is opening up your body, and you don’t want to over stretch. Have a wonderful and relaxing practice to rejuvenate your body.
Many blessings,
Deni
